This is my blog, made up of my world and everything in it. All of these are my thoughts and my words. Some of these (or, a part of some of these) have been published in the Times of India. I post them here in their entirety, along with some more of my thoughts put down on paper (or, the keyboard) that have not been published elsewhere.

Atithi Devo Bhava
Atithi Devo Bhava:
its tragic! A nation that not only prides itself on its so called "culture" but also lives eats breathes mouths various insipid holier than thou missives on our traditions and culture. . Seems to forget the basic one of it all. . Hospitality. Indians have always been known to have opened their doors and hearts to anyone and everyone. Yes they may hold barriers of caste and creed against their own brethren. . But at least the white skinned dollared guests used to have more sanctity in the olden days. Travelling in the train right now. . It pains me and makes me so ANGRY. . As an Indian. . To see the shabby way we Indians behave as we scream and shout rave and rant. . Throwing bags and over laden suitcases all over. . Yelling at their people. . Trodding on people sitting in their own seats. . And ready to pick a fight with a decibel of sound that pierces the ear drums and jangles the brain! We. . With all our cultural background. . Are probably USED to it all and manage to take it in our stride. But to watch it happen to people of other cultures and lands.. Is DISGUSTING. Where are you. . Aamir Khan? It needs more than a few advertisements aired on channels to stir the Indian. We need to include Manners Coursesy and Hospitality in our school curriculum maybe. . Or shove it on our thick skinned citizens as an "or else" option.. Imposing fines and penalties for rotten behaviour. But something very definitely needs to be done.

Our Symbol of Unity
Our Tiranga. . The Symbol of Unity.
A thought. Ref my Earlier blog. According to excavating evidences. . Hindus came first to this land. And saffron was their chosen colour. Then came Muslims. Invaded and mingled and it became difficult to identify which was which. So the pandits and mullas decided to Brand them into groups easy to identify. . And lead into warring oblivion. Hence the vermilion streaked foreheads and centre parted hair. .and the black veils and pointed beards. Its so simple if one looks at it objectively. One people. One God. Diverse interpretations.
Then followed the british. Never to be left on the outside. A force to reckon with. Master of all they surveyed. And then of course came our history. And independence. And Partition. The two colours divided and were torn apart. . As were the people. In tearing agony.
But ever thought about our Tiranga?
Saffron at the top. The Hindus did come here first. The Green at the base. The Muslims came next. And also belonged. The White in the middle. With the royal blue chakra. . Attempting to built bridges of PEACE AND PROGRESS between the two.

We The People
Proud to be an Indian...
Ever thought about it? Centuries ago, this land was populated by simple primitive happy men women and children. . Who roamed around wearing hand woven clothes and animal skins. . Hand crafted jewellery. . Cooking in hand sculpted earthen pots. . Eating hand grown crops and self hunted prey. They were far removed from "religion" as we perceive it today. . But artifacts dug out of archeological moulds show that they worshipped what they feared. Or revered. .and besides fire,Lightening, thunder and storm. . They made clay models of near -perfect human forms. .attributing all godly qualities to them. There have been deciphered to have been sculptures and paintings of Shiva and Parwati And Krishna and the Gopis. So. . Presumably. . The original inhabitants of this land. . Were " Hindu". . As we call them today.
Then spread tales of the Golden Land with rivers of milk and honey. . Which attracted invaders of all colours and creeds. . From far off lands nobody knew existed. Persian and Arab invaders bearing names that fill our history books and memories . . Names like Mehmud Ghazni, Muhammad Ghori, Chengez Khan, The Mughals etc etc. Came. Saw. Conquered. Plundered. Built. Destroyed. Re built. And mingled. Until over the centuries. . They become one with the people of this land. And imbibed each others methods and habits. And there was peace again. Peace in Diversity. A new word and a new world was invented.
Then where did it all go so horribly wrong?
We The People. Weapons of mass destruction of Us The People.
